Lavender. The name given to this plant came from the Latin verb 'Lavare" to wash, or 'livendulo' Livid or bluish. In Ancient Egypt, lavender was used for embalming and cosmetics. Jars filled with something resembling lavender were found in King Tut's tomb. At this time only royal families and higher priests used lavender.  The Priests were the first perfumers and concoted inscence, adn aromatic oils to use in the temples. Ancient Rome used lavender for it's healing and antiseptics properties, for deterring insects and washing. Queen Elizabeth's love of lavender, used it in tea to treat her frequent migraines as well as a perfume. Adam and Eve took lavender with them when they were banished from the Garden of Eden. Lavender was thought to be a safeguard against evil. A lavender cross hung over the door for protection was common.

 Lavender, this amazing beautiful herb has a pleasant fragrance and a soothing quality to boost. Today, lavender has been used to cure everything from menstrual cramps, upset stomach, sinuses, hangovers, tiredness, tension, exhaustion, rheumatism, arthritis, chronic pain, kidney disorder to stress relief, headaches and migraines.
