What is a Herbal Therapy Heat Wrap?
Our Heat Wraps come in various sizes,
18 x 7", 24 x 10" and 16 x 6 1/2"
Each wrap comes with a removable
cover (not the 16 x 6 1/2"), and the
inner bag is 100% cotton muslin.
The inner bag is filled with flaxseed,
and your choice of lavender and/or peppermint.
For those who prefer an unscented wrap,
flaxseed only is available. Herbal Therapy Heat
Wraps are a natural heating pad.
What do I do with my Heat Wrap?
You can either heat it in the microwave,
for a soothing moist heat, or you
can store it in the freezer, in an airtight
freezer bag. Just take out of the freezer
to use as an ice pack for Cold Therapy treatment.
Our soft flannel and cotton covers will
protect your skin from the heat and cold.
You will be amazed how long your wrap
will retain heat and coldness.
What kind of fillers do you use?
We do not use inexpensive fillers such
as rice, wheat, corn or barley.
These are cheaper and do not provide
an even heating distribution. Rice, corn
and wheat tend to dry out and scorch when
reheated. It also has a "cooked food" smell.
For people with smell sensitivities this can
be a problem.We use 100% natural flaxseed,
no pesticides or chemicals used.
These soft seeds will not crack when heated,
weigh less than rice, and adjust better
to the contours of the body. We also offer
the option to add lavender and/or peppermint
with the flaxseed, or for those who prefer
no herbal scent, flaxseed only is available.
What is flaxseed?
Flax, is an herb known for its pure pale
blue flowers. It has been used, and consumed for
its nutritional and medicinal uses for centuries.
The actual seed of flax contain 30-40% of an oil,
this oil remains inside the seed. When the seeds
are heated, the soft shell of the seed allows
for moisture to be absorbed, then as the seeds
cool, a moist heat is released.
This unique thermal and oil content allow
for it to heat quickly and retain heat for more
than 30 minutes, making it an ideal
natural heating element.
How long will my wrap last?
If microwave directions are followed, your wrap
should last a long time. Some of mine are
going on a couple of years. When your
filler is no longer retaining the heat like it
used to, but your cover is still good, just let
us know, we provide "the inner bag only" for sale.
The herbal ingredients, lavender and peppermint
will lose their scent after repeated use.
Add a couple drops of essential oil, or put one
of oursachets inside the pillow for added fragrance. |
